The Artist

Birds of prey and their “paradox” inspire my artwork every day. I attempt to capture the essence of their fragility, beauty, and strength. The elemental beauty of all mediums amazes me and lends itself to my attempt to capture that which I observe. Bronze, silver, and gold; wood, marble, stone, watercolor, woodblock, and ink all bring pleasure through one's eye to the soul. Most notably inspired by Birds of Prey, I use these mediums to create hints of life forms and embrace a sense of conservation and permanence.

Who Are We?

Bird of Prey Design was launched with the intention of showcasing the sculptural artistry of Ralph Chandler through luxury jewelry. Backed by the creative collective of design, craftsmanship, and documentation, we aim to combine classical technique with storytelling and the repurposing of materials while maintaining the most careful attention to detail. Since 2019, we have sought to produce statements of longevity, individuality, and function that aren’t just beautiful, but hold meaning to be passed among generations.

Drawing inspiration from nature and connection, Bird of Prey seeks to find balance between meaning, beauty, and function. Our process values the detailed work required to make one-of-a-kind pieces by hand. Following our philosophy, every part of the composition is independently crafted and we constantly produce new ideas, working to make our pieces more comfortable to wear and more meaningful to own.

While Bird of Prey has original designs that are reproducible, each piece is personally handcrafted upon ordering and therefore is recreated to hold its own uniqueness. This makes each Bird of Prey piece entirely one-of-a-kind. Rather than easily reproducible, simple items, every piece is its own and has a direct relationship with its owner and the significance it holds for them. Aware of this, we hope our customers will honor their own unique story in the pieces they purchase.

Our in-house production is a contemporary example of sustainable work. Manifested in a conscious approach to production and consumption, we hope to function sustainably with a respect and honoring of the environment–the primary source of inspiration for RC as well as for our brand.
